In the book of Jeremiah chapter 10: 23" O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps."   Allow me to give a few more references to the subject I want to write about. Psalm 19:12 " Who can understand his errors? cleanse Thou me from secret faults.

The subject that I'm interested in considering deals with the fact that we really don't know what sort of person we are. Oh, we think we know, but the truth of the matter is our opinion or view of ourselves is sort of tainted with a little pride. Proverbs 16: 2 "All the ways of man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits."  Again, in Psalm 62:9 “Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity."  There are many more verses that can be added to this to show how blind and ignorant people are to their true self. Fact is, if we knew, especially what others have determined in their minds the sort of  disposition we have, we just might set out to make some changes in our deportment. Our friends try to chip off some of our rough edges, but we think they’re just picking and we really don't have that many faults. The only sure way to know who you are, is to let the Bible and the Holy Spirit help you see yourself in the mirror of God's Word. That takes some humbling and confessing to the Lord that you need help getting rid of the Old Man that you made of yourself.

When the Bible is preached to us and it's nailing our hide to the wall saying, this is you, it's talking about, We have a ritual we learned to do. Most of the time we think of others that need this message and I'm not that type of person. The old saying, (if the shoe fits, wear it) just might apply to us.

You might consider some soul searching and knee bending, crying out to the Lord, It's Me Lord, standing in the need of prayer.

I used to have a man that would help me preach by saying, “Think About IT.”
